An infographic that shows the most popular regions to start a business in the UK, number of births and deaths in the year of 2017.
New research from the Office for National Statistics indicates that areas such as the North West and the West Midlands have a more promising outcome for budding entrepreneurs looking to start a business, in comparison to London. Whilst the capital is not exactly the most popular region to start a business.
Using a report created by the Office for National Statistics at the end of 2018, the following points can be concluded:
- - The North West is the most popular region to start a business in comparison to the region's active businesses, with a 15.9% birth rate (by the end of 2017).
- - The South West is the worst region to start a business based on number of company births vs deaths in 2017 with 25,000 businesses starting up and 30,000 closing.
- - London had the highest number of businesses starting up (92,000 births) but also the highest number of businesses closing (86,000 deaths) in 2017.
